
Corporate Values provide organisations with a cultural landscape from which to manifest meaningful change and, increasingly, differentiate themselves from their competitors. However, rarely does a company assess fully what these statements really mean for its people. For example, if we are making bold proclamations about our customer centricity and our team-working skills are we supporting them with corresponding activities in the workplace? Or do we merely allow the culture to develop without boundaries, to adopt its own idiosyncrasies and therefore refer to it as a ‘resistance’?
The ‘Values into Action’ programme is centred on the hypothesis that organisational behaviours are manageable. Culture must fundamentally underpin the strategy and value proposition. Rarely are values utilised in the ‘nuts and bolts’ of day-to-day business. By bringing the values, and their corresponding behaviours, out of the rafters teams can begin to assess their current performance, highlight areas of improvement and establish and execute a plan for change.
